No matter how many high-drama spaces make headlines, hospitality design still has a place for style that’s well thought out, well executed and timelessly chic. Not every unforgettable space needs to shout to be “heard” by guests looking for statement design. That’s the principle that guided the look for the 170-room Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide. The interior design team at Bates Smart was tasked with finding a design that suited both the 1930’s façade of the building and a modern glass extension by JPE Design Studio. Neutral tones set the stage for a quietly elegant vibe. Subtle touches like patterned carpeting add visual interest.
Clean lines give a king room a modern feel. “We are very excited to be able to breathe new life into one of Adelaide’s most iconic landmarks, preserving a magnificent heritage building,” said Aaron Oh, Mayfair Hotel’s general manager. “We are extremely proud to be showcasing South Australian food, wine and other products to local and international guests.” |
