Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is ranked “the busiest airport in the world” for the second time, according to the statistics of international airports in 2016 collected by Civil Aviation Data Analysis, a Chinese civil aviation data platform.

Beijing-Capital International Airport (BCIA) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) were second and third after Atlanta.

ATL put through 104 million air passengers in 2016, 2.64% more than the previous year. The passenger throughput of BCIA was 94.393 million, an y-o-y increase of 5%. DXB maintained relatively growth rate and handled 83.65 million air passengers last year.

Los Angeles International Airport at the fourth place saw 8% y-o-y increase in passenger throughput, which exceeded 80 million.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport is in the top 10 with 10% more passenger throughput at 65.98 million.

The passenger throughput of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport approached the 60 million mark, surpassing Singapore Changi Airport.

John F. Kennedy International Airport, with December data yet to be released, chalked up 54.145 million in passenger throughput in the first 11 months last year and is expected to have around 60 million for the whole year. (Translated by Claire)
