Italy-based tours and activities company Musement has acquired travel content platform Triposo with terms of the deal not disclosed. According to a statement the deal brings together more than 12 million travelers across both platforms. Musement was started in Italy in 2013, (Startup pitch here), to help travellers book tickets to popular attractions such as museums and galleries. The company announced Series A funding of €5 million in early 2015 and said it planned growth in the US and some cities in South America. A second round came about a year ago with $10 million in Series B announced. Other milestones in the companies short history include its partnership with Germany-based activities reservation system Regiondo.
Last year it unveiled a mobile service alerting tourists of an offer or ticket when they approached an attraction. It then followed up the development with launch of a chatbot via Facebook Messenger. Triposo was set up in 2011 as a trip planning and travel content system with apps for mobile devices. The company raised just over $3 million in late 2015 bringing the total it has raised to about $9 million. According to the statement Triposo’s technology integration will mean Musement can offer a more intuitive and personalised content and booking options experience to its users in real time. The content will be available via both Musement and Triposo B2C websites and apps as well as a joint API for B2B partners.
