If you have a spare apartment or home that you don’t use often, using it as an Airbnb rental is a good way to earn some money on your investment. However the way Airbnb usually pays its hosts is 24 hours after a guest’s scheduled check-in time, which we suppose is fair enough, although we imagine that some hosts would like to get paid earlier. The good news is that if you are an Airbnb host, it seems that the company is testing out a new feature that will let hosts get paid earlier. According to a report from TechCrunch, the new feature means that Airbnb hosts will be getting paid 50% three days after a guest has booked their stay, and the remaining 50% will come 24 hours after the scheduled check-in time. However this early payments feature will come at a price, literally, as Airbnb will be taking 1% of the booking subtotal for those who opt to take advantage of the early payout feature. Hosts can opt out of this if they’d rather not pay Airbnb that extra 1%, which means that it will continue being payments as usual. So what about bookings that have been cancelled? It seems that in such instances, Airbnb will simply deduct it from the next reservation. That being said this feature is currently in testing which means that not all hosts will see the feature yet.
