In the first half of 2018, Chinese made 71.31 million outbound trips, a 15% year-on-year increase. Average spent per person for outbound travel during the first half of 2018 was 5200 yuan ( around USD 759). This was relatively the safe compared with the first half of 2017. Demographics for outbound travelers 53% of the outbound travelers were female, and 47% were male. Post-80s are still the backbone of outbound tourism, with a proportion of 31%. The contribution of outbound tourists through Ctrip in terms of group tours or independent travel is 50:50. New trend and new way of travel is through customized trips and local guides.
